Netbook Reviews - Acer Aspire One AOD255-2509

The Acer Aspire One AOD255-2509 is one of those 2010 laptops that stood out for all the right reasons. This amazingly thin and incredibly versatile unit was one of my favorites from the past year because it offered everything imaginable in one package. With a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display and a gaggle of special features sure to make your friends jealous, this is one attention-grabbing gadget you'll want to show off.

Specs, Baby, Specs

So if you thought other computers had it good, the Acer One is here to change hearts and minds. Starting with a sturdy 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and including a 160GB hard drive clocked at 5,400rpm, the Acer Aspire One AOD255-2509 is something for the ages.

1GB of DDR2 RAM and integrated Intel graphics make your dreams come true in real color and real style, while the amazingly clear Crystal Eye web-cam, a 1.3 megapixel beauty, will transmit images of your gorgeous face to the world at large.

C'mon, C'mon, C'mon Now Touch Me, Baby

One of the neatest things the Acer One includes is a multi-gesture touch-pad. Now I know: multi-gesture touch-pads are common and almost every market laptop worth its salt features one. But the Acer Aspire One AOD255-2509 features something a little different with its touch-pad in that it can actually be disabled with one button. It's a highly versatile touch-pad, too, allowing for pinching and squeezing and all sorts of hand motions. We're still talking about the touch-pad, right?

More Fun

This compact beauty includes Windows 7 Starter for good measure, offering a complement of programs and applications that you'll find to be a lot of fun. The 64-bit version includes things like Jump Lists and better taskbar controls, enabling for improved navigation around your new Acer One.

Windows Anytime Upgrade is also included, allowing the opportunity to move on up in the world to other versions of the popular and incredibly Windows 7 O/S.
